What Article Is This?

You do really need much information to make informed decisions. Sometimes, just a few words can give you a lot of information about the context of an article.

In this activity, you will be given lists of words from four different news articles. Your task is to determine which list of words corresponds to which original article. You will need to read the words carefully and think about the context in which they might appear. Write down your responses! Once you are finished, please address the questions below.

Work in groups as you complete this activity. You may use the internet to help you find the original articles, but you must cite your sources.

Below are five questions to answer to help you analyze the articles and the words you have been given. Please answer each question in complete sentences.

  3. How do the words in each dataset help you understand the context of the articles? Provide specific examples from the datasets to support your answer.
  4. Were there any words that were particularly surprising or unexpected in any of the datasets? If so, which ones and why?
  5. How might the information in these articles be relevant to current events or issues in society today? Discuss any connections you can make between the articles and contemporary topics or debates.
